How to Make a Hypertufa Pot

Old stone troughs look great in a garden, but they're heavy, rare and expensive. Hypertufa gets you the same look for a fraction of the weight, with a few bags from the yard and a bit of patience. Hypertufa is a mix of cement, perlite and peat (or coir) that sets into a light, porous, stone-look pot. Gardeners came up with it in the 1930s, when the old stone troughs used for alpine plants got hard to find.
